discover the world of portuguese food & wine
Skip your lunch or dinner reservations because you won’t be hungry after joining us for this tabletop tour of boutique foodstuffs & wines of Portugal.
The evening includes generous portions of the best charcuterie from Portugal. This includes Enchidos (Portuguese sausage), Pata Negra (acorn-fed, free-range, presunto), D.O.P.-certified artisan cheeses delivered fresh by the farmer, wood-oven-baked bread slices, house-cured olives, select olive oils, fruit preserves, and boutique, handmade wines of Portugal.
Yes, a great secret is hard to keep quiet and this is certainly the case with Portuguese wines, which are the newest trend among wine aficionados and value-oriented wine-lovers alike. Discover why “Portugal is the Most Exciting Wine Place on the Planet Today”. A new breed of Portuguese winemakers has been hard at work over the last 25 years, and they are sweeping up International competitions and recognition at wine Expos from New York to Japan. In fact, we were recently awarded one of the “Top 10 Wines of the World”.
This casual tasting takes place in a rustic wine house that was once part of the city's monumental aqueduct system in the 1700s, making it one of the most interesting places to taste wine in Lisbon. The old aqueduct tunnels leading from the main tasting room now serve as their cellar, with perfect temperatures and humidity for storing wines. Here, you can share a conversation with your guide about the history of this monument, discuss restaurants, wine, and travel, or immerse yourself in the wine maps and materials provided by our passionate experts. Start with crisp, refreshing whites like Vinho Verde, or jump right into smooth, dried-fruit and jammy reds. The evening’s selection is paired with locally produced foodstuffs that will seduce your palate with tempting and savory flavors. We like to finish with a tasting of Port wine for those who are curious about Port wine.
Most of the wines presented are from small to medium-sized winemakers who rarely appear in wine shops outside Portugal. These wines represent old-traditional wine-making techniques like foot pressing and midnight harvesting. At the end of the tour, you will be in the historic center, where you can explore the nightlife of Lisbon at your leisure.

important details
This is not a walking, Spanish tapas tour:
In Portugal our tradition is different from Spain. This is not a walking tour which goes to different tourist bars. It is a tabletop tour, which takes place at one location.
We want our guests to have an authentic experience, and to enjoy our foodstuffs and wine like locals. We do not want to waste time waking guests up and down steep hills on cobblestones, between bars while drinking and eating. Instead there is more time to enjoy the generous variety of food and wine items offered instead of moving from one place to another.
.
MEETING POINT
Hotel, apartment, ship dock, or at an easy-to-find location in historic center. A map and photo of exact meeting point is sent with tour confirmation. Hotel or apartment meetings subject to time and location.
why walk In lisbon?
Because that’s what locals do. Portuguese are among Europe’s biggest walkers! A Eurobarometer survey published in 2014 revealed that Portugal is among the countries where making daily routine trips by foot is most common. To really know Lisbon one must go into those small maze-like streets of the city’s old quarters, where automobiles are limited and real life unfolds in pedestrian friendly streets and squares.
