Lisbon’s southerly latitude gives it a Mediterranean type of climate, similar to San Diego, California, but one where the summer heat is tempered by the Atlantic winds. Winter is the wet season everywhere in Portugal, and there are micro climates in the higher elevations outside of Lisbon in places like Sintra where fog, rain, and lower temps often contrast with the temperate climate in Lisbon.
